The pirates are coming! The pirates are coming!
On Saturday, September 26, from noon to 6:00 p.m. at Gabi’s Olympic Cards and Comics, 4230 Pacific Ave. in Lacey, join us for some pirate-themed fun and benefit a great cause, at the same time.
On July 30, one of our fellow crewmates lost his battle to Defuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a rare form of brain cancer that today has no cure. His name was Ethan Tacheny and he was four years old.
We are banding together in his name to raise awareness about the disease, and to raise money for his family and for the foundations that are trying to find a cure. We want to honor his memory with the thing he loved most – pirates!
To add to the authentic experience, the crew of the Emerald Rose (the B.O.O.M. Pirates) will be on hand to sing sea shanties, crack whips, sword fight, educate us about privateering, provide story-time for our younger crewmates and play games with attendees.
Information about DIPG and about Ethan will be on display, and donation boxes will be set up on site. Pirate costumes are encouraged and some will win prizes! There will also be some fun ways to earn prizes and donate at the same time.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Help us shine a light on this illness that primarily affects children and raise funds towards its eradication. Hope to see you there.
