Beginning next week, crews will install a 4-foot fence around the Artesian Commons on 4th Avenue. The purpose is to improve the safety and security of the Artesian Commons in downtown Olympia. The Artesian Well, located adjacent to the Commons, is outside the fenced area (see attached diagram). Both the Commons and the Well will remain open during construction.
The City contracted with Gary’s Garden Gate to fabricate and install the new fencing. Work will begin the week of May 11 and will be completed by the end of the month. A basketball hoop will also be installed by the end of May. Additional cameras and lighting will be added in the next few months. Please use caution around the construction area.
Olympia’s Artesian Commons is an urban courtyard that incorporates spaces for three mobile food vendors and a multi-purpose space available for scheduled events. Current park hours are dawn to dusk.
