With wind gusts forecast to possibly exceed 55 MPH in the Puget Sound & Hood Canal region, Mason PUD 3 may be extremely busy working to restore electricity to customers tonight.

The highest wind gusts are expected to hit Mason County between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

Here are some tips customers may find useful:

  • Charge up your mobile devices (tablets, laptop, smartphone or cellphone) now. If you have a car charger, you can get juice from your car.
  • Have an emergency outage kit. It should include a flashlight, battery operated radio, extra batteries, non-perishable foods, bottled water and blankets.
  • Turn on your porch light. Our crews will be able to easily see if electricity has been restored by making a quick patrol.
  • Never use kerosene or propane heaters inside without proper ventilation.
  • Don’t use charcoal in your house or garage.
  • Check on your neighbors, especially those who may need special assistance.
  • Don’t forget the needs of your pets.
