Hicks shows me around the office. Hidden in the back is a water testing lab. The tests run here are designed to pinpoint what’s in your water. Hicks breaks these potential hazards down into two categories: nuisance and safety. A nuisance issue is something like staining in the bathroom sink, or other undesirable things like smell or taste. A safety issue is a dangerous bacteria that can make you ill.

The lab will soon be operational and visiting various communities across Western Washington. “We’ll be taking this to different locations so people can bring us their water and we’ll test it free of charge,” says Zack.
