Today my roommate from college arrives. We often go years without a face-to-face chat, substituting the occasional email, a lot of “likes” on social media photos, and holiday cards for a personal visit. We live many states apart and have competing requests for our precious vacation time. When she told me she wanted to visit during her children’s Spring Break, I didn’t blink before responding with an enthusiastic YES! It will be her first trip to Olympia. Usually we meet in Seattle, sharing a visit with her extended family, or coordinate to both attend a wedding or special event. I’m excited to show off this city where we choose to live, work, and play. (And please take pity on my husband at work on Monday… it’s going to be a few long nights of catching up.)
Here are some things that you may want to put on your “to do” list, whether you are entertaining visitors or not.
