It’s likely that you know a student athlete competing this weekend.  Maybe you have to go down a few degrees of separation to find someone, but there are a slew of kids testing their skills against athletes from across the state.  Over the course of the weekend, champs will be decided in wrestling, gymnastics, and swimming.  District tournaments will continue in both boys and girls basketball.  And, our sports writer will be logging a lot of hours in his car, traveling around to capture the moment for ThurstonTalk readers.

Now, add in some outstanding dance and theater performances and you have the makings for an exciting weekend.  Check out our event calendar to stay up to date with everything happening around Olympia.

  • Catch a performance of “Peter Pan.”  The Olympia School District actors actually fly!  Showtime and ticket information can be found here.
  • Share with charity and watch outstanding dance performances at Studio West’s Dance to Make a Difference on Saturday night.
  • Watch Olympia Family Theater’s “House at Pooh Corner,” Olympia Little Theater’s “Educating Rita,” or laugh at an improv night.
  • Enjoy the closing ceremonies of the Olympics with friends.  Get a list of places to watch the events here.
  • Party with Disney’s “Frozen” author, Barbara Jean Hicks on Sunday at Mystical Cupcakes.  The author will be signing books from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
