Originally, my opening paragraph focused on the superstition associated with today’s date. I deleted it. Instead, let’s talk about other numbers, like 60 inflatables on 5 acres in Shelton, or the 7 holiday concerts that you can attend this weekend. We could also focus on the 5 places you can spot Santa around Olympia or the 5 small businesses located inside the New Caldonia building.
Moving on… let’s review some awesome options for holiday cheer this weekend.
- Drive through the best Christmas light displays in Thurston County. Take our tour here.
- Find your locally grown tree at one of these tree farms.
- Find Santa at a community center, pet shelter, or fire station this weekend.
- Shop local this holiday season.
- Visit Shelton’s Christmas Wonderland or Maytown’s Christmas Island.
- Attend a Nutcracker performance. Go backstage with parents dedicated to Ballet Northwest’s production. Tickets can be purchased here.
- Enjoy a holiday concert. SOGO, Olympia Choral Society, and Olympia Youth Chorus all perform this weekend.
- Take in a performance of Stardust at Harlequin Productions.
- Listen to live guitar music at the New Caldonia Building on Friday evening.
- Head over to Duck the Malls at the historic Capitol Theater and shop with local crafters.
- Finish your shopping at a holiday bazaar. There are a few happening this weekend.
- Celebrate the lighting of the tree in Tumwater on Saturday from 2:00 – 5:00 pm.
- Dig a limit of razor clams for your holiday feasts. Tide information can be found here.
- Attend Bayview and Ralph Thriftway’s Taste the Holiday Spirit event on Saturday from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm.
