Did you know that your vehicle, running or not, can help a neighbor in need, right here in Thurston County? This holiday season, every car, truck, boat, RV, motorcycle or other vehicle donated to South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity, through the Cars for Homes Program, is tax deductible and helps build more homes for families in need.

In January of 2014, South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity will start construction on the first homes at Wood’s Glen in Lacey, a five acre development that will eventually include thirty-three affordable homes. Money from the donations of vehicles will go straight toward purchasing building materials for Wood’s Glen.

The average monthly rental cost of a 3-bedroom apartment in Thurston County is $1,300. South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity can put families in a home they own for half that amount.
