Enjoy Sand in the City this Weekend

Sand in the CIty Masters SculptureSandcastles aren’t just child’s play at Sand in the City on August 23-25 at the Hands On Children’s Museum. The largest sand sculpting event in Washington State, the free three-day festival expects 50,000 visitors to the new museum on Olympia’s East Bay Waterfront.

Thirteen teams will compete in the sandcastle competition and people of all skill levels can sculpt a castle in the giant sandboxes.  Among the attractions are live music, great local food and more than 40 art and science activities.

For a special event admission rate of $25, families can play inside the new museum’s nine themed galleries and the new Outdoor Discovery Center.

All proceeds from Sand in the City directly support the Hands On Children’s Museum’s Free & Reduced Admissions program. Over 100,000 children and their families benefit from the program by experiencing the museum regardless of their ability to pay.

Port of Olympia is proud to be a sponsor the annual Sand in the City festival. For more information, click here.
