Originally I was going to write a post today about how to beat the summer heat.  But, then I decided that since we were all shivering and soaked earlier this week that most Thurston County folks were going to be relishing the glorious weather in the forecast.  So, I’m going to summarize all of our 4th of July event information so that you know details about fireworks shows, regulations about igniting fireworks, and various event information for the holiday.

Celebrating 4th of July At The Tumwater Parade, Artesian Festival and Fireworks Show

Did you know that Tumwater hosts the only 4th of July parade in Thurston County?  About 100 entries will step off at 11:00 am to parade around Tumwater.  Get information here about the parade route and the subsequent festival and fireworks show.

2013 Fireworks Shows In Olympia, Lacey, And Tumwater

Three major fireworks shows are scheduled for next week.  Boston Harbor Marina will launch fireworks from a barge off their docks.  The City of Lacey and Lacey Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a fireworks extravaganza from William A Bush Park and Tumwater area businesses will organize a fireworks spectacular from the Tumwater Valley Golf Course.  Find all the details here.

Just as important as “where are the fireworks shows,” local agencies have also published information on fireworks safety.

  • The Thurston County Emergency Management department gives tips here about water and fireworks safety over the holiday.
  • Pet safety is also a concern.  Joint Animal Services shares their ideas on how to keep pets safe during loud noises and flashing lights.
  • The City of Lacey and City of Olympia also remind residents that discharging fireworks within city limits is not allowed.  Find more fireworks regulations here.

Enjoy the holiday!  Watch our event calendar for more holiday festivities.
