I am struggling with what to say. I have typed a variety of sentences and then deleted each character. I worry about not sounding authentic. Too many writers have come before me with well written pieces on the impact of the Boston Marathon bombings. So, I opt today to let the articles speak for themselves.
Here are three stories that show the unity, cohesiveness and love within the Olympia running community.
“If we can take the smallest financial burden away from the McDougall’s, the event will be a success,” said organizer Karen Steen when discussing her plans for a run which attracted hundreds of people to support beloved Olympia High School Coach Todd McDougall.
“It was a great day for us to follow them around and cheer them on,” said Drew Stevick when reflecting on the double win of his son Jesse and daughter-in-law Jenny during last year’s Capital City Marathon.
“All the way across the country, the tragedy was felt, and all the way across the country, people came together to show strength and support for each other.” – ThurstonTalk.com writer Tom Rohrer
