Brooks McBeth is co-headlining a huge night of comedy in Olympia. Join McBeth, John Keister, Amos Mack and Fools Play Improv on Saturday, April 27 at The Washington Center.

We chatted.  He asked about the kids.  Wondered aloud about plans for the rest of the day.  He made me chuckle, all during a 10-minute phone interview with a man I had never met but who is coming to Olympia to make a huge splash.

Enter Brooks McBeth.  A comedian with deep roots in Western Washington.  (I mean, anyone that calls Renton their hometown has got to be funny, right?)

McBeth’s comedy show is scheduled for Saturday, April 27 at 8:00 pm at The Washington Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Olympia.

“After Arts Walk, join us for a crazy, fun night of comedy.  It’s a great way to juxtapose the culture from art viewing,” explains McBeth with a laugh.

McBeth will co-headline the two-hour show.  Joining him is  Almost Live! and The [206] comedian John Keister.  Almost Live! was a popular half-hour comedy sketch show in Seattle.  John Keister hosted the televised show for over 11 years and is the star of the hugely popular current show The [206].  Keister has gained a reputation for being an jokester in the local community.

“For people who grew up watching Almost Live!, this is a little taste of that original programming but it’s more than that. Our show is a great revival of comedy in the Northwest,” explains McBeth.

McBeth and Keister toured together for a few shows last year.  “I talked with people after the show, not just Northwest natives, and they all said it was one of the best shows they have seen,” he says.

Local comedian Amos Mack is also on the bill.  Fools Play Improv, the longest running improvisational comedy group in the Pacific Northwest, will also be performing.

“You get it all in this show – hilarious comedy and creative improv,” explains McBeth.

With all local South Sound comedians providing the jokes and skits, Olympia residents are sure to be easily humored.  “We love to make fun of ourselves.  Our comedy focuses on the great lifestyles and cities that we grew up in,” adds McBeth.

I certainly expect to hear jokes about McBeth’s hometown mixed in with creative puns about living in the Washington State capital city.

John Keister, known for hosting Almost Live! for 11 years and now starring in the comedy The [206], will be at The Washington Center on Saturday evening.
McBeth is anxious to perform in the beautiful Washington Center for the Performing Arts.  “When you do a show in a place like the Washington Center, it’s awesome.  Everyone has such a great time and the momentum and energy is just infectious,” he describes.

As the co-headline comedian, McBeth plans to make a photo montage for Olympia and maybe even throw in a few video clips, all focused around the “fun people that I meet.”

It’s an evening of comedy that’s not to be missed.  The professional comedians will entertain with a local flair.  Parents – leave the kids at home with a sitter.  This show contains adult humor that isn’t suitable for little ears.

And, McBeth even throws out that there may be a few surprise guests that wind up on stage.  He name drops Seattle Supersonics star Shawn Kemp as being a personal friend who may drop in.  “You never know who can come by,” he adds (and if we weren’t on the phone, I’m sure I would have seen a twinkle in his eye and a knowing smile cross his face.)

Grab a seat.  It’s sure to be a packed crowd, all waiting to hear what foolish humor comes out of the mouths of Amos Mack, Fools Play Improv, John Keister, and of course my new BFF Brooks McBeth.
