That’s an odd question, don’t you think? But it is actually derived from a quote of one of our customers: When Home Resources, Inc. finished remodeling his kitchen with a design by Trivonna, David Block told us “the new kitchen changed our lifestyle and the lifestyle of our home.” David’s comment help to answer a more common (and critical) question: Why?… Why would I remodel my kitchen?
The Block’s kitchen was originally a typical dark 70’s vintage look and layout: It had a peninsula separating the kitchen from the breakfast nook, with cabinets hanging down that blocked line of sight. They also had a framed in pantry with deep shelves – ideal for loosing stuff! Later, they painted the cabinets white to try to update the look, but it didn’t help the functionality at all.
David and Barb chose to use Bellmont cabinetry in the Savanah door style with Cherry wood. After several discussions with Trivonna about what needed to be changed (including one discussion in their home), they turned her loose to design. After a few revisions, their new kitchen looked like this.
The kitchen was flanked by a brick wall that served no practical function. Trivonna designed a hutch that allowed the brick to show through the glass door cabinets.
Finally, the kitchen was cut off from the living/dining room by a wall.
The walls were taken out to give the home the more open feel that is popular today and Trivonna replaced it with a bar where friends could sit and visit with the cook.
Home Resources completed the remodel in mid-December – just in time for all the family (and more) to invade! David tells me that all four cooks were able to work on different projects at the same time and had a ball doing it!
So, why remodel your kitchen? To make it pretty is good, but Trivonna will also help you make it functional – She will help you “Create a Nurturing Environment, Because Life Takes Place in the Kitchen!”
