Sometimes in sports, the more experienced team comes out with the victory.

Timberline High School’s quest for a 3A boys basketball state championship ended on Thursday evening in the Tacoma Dome in a 78-55 to the perennial WIAA Hardwood Classic participant, the Quakers of Franklin High School.

Down 31-26 at the half, the Blazers were outscored by Franklin 47 to 29 in the second half.  The loss comes despite the terrific scoring display from Timberline junior wing Donaven Dorsey, who scored 30 points on 12 of 24 shooting from the field.  Senior Elijah Sanders added 13 points and ten rebounds, while Brandell Evans added six points and team high 3 assists.

While the loss will surely sting for the Blazers, they must recover quickly.  Their tournament play continues in the consolation bracket Friday afternoon against the loser of Rainier Beach vs. Seattle Prep.  The Blazers will return a significant amount of talent next year despite the loss of Sanders and fellow post Levi Lambert-Wilson to graduation.  Dorsey will continue to garner attention as one of the best players in the state, if not the west coast.
