Yes it’s a dog’s life, but that’s how they like it at local full service pet center, k-9 Clubhouse.

Since 2005, k-9 Clubhouse has been faithfully serving pets and their people all over Thurston County.  Owners Ashley and Jacob Marchel offer a unique service to local pet owners that combines excellent care and affordability.  As a young couple with 5 dogs themselves, they know what it’s like to need quality attention that is reasonably priced.

“Olympia has a passion for pets,” says Jacob.  “We want k-9 Clubhouse to be a valuable resource to pet owners.” Full service grooming, full service pet wash, and doggie day care are offered at each of three locations around Thurston County.  Friendly knowledgeable staff is always on hand to talk with customers about issues such as training, boarding and other K9 related topics.

Full Service Grooming

With 13 years in the business, Jacob knows how important it is to have staff that is passionate about taking care of pets.  Groomers are personally trained in-house in the latest pet grooming and safety techniques.  Jacob is adamant that staff treat each client with the same attention and care that he would expect for his own animals.  “Happy staff is a must when working with animals, especially dogs.  We can hire a happy person and teach them to groom dogs, but we can’t hire an experienced groomer and teach them to be a happy person,” declares Jacob.  In addition to regular monthly meetings to discuss safety policies, techniques and other current pet topics, staff participates in online continued education.  All staff is also certified in pet CPR, which can mean some peace of mind for owners leaving their loved ones in k-9 Clubhouse’s care.

Self-Service Pet Wash

The full service pet wash is distinct in that it offers pet parents a place to thoroughly wash, brush and dry large (and small) dogs using professional equipment.  The table height tubs and drying platforms are a welcome relief to anyone who has to bend over for an extended period of time to wash and groom four legged family members.  The price of the self wash is only $15 and includes towels, combs/brushes, shampoo, tub, table, blow dryer and a nail trim by a staff member.  The service is walk-in and is available on a first come first served basis.  They have everything you need, just bring a dirty dog.

Doggie Day Care

Doggie day care is another uniquely modern service available at k-9 Clubhouse.  Jacob explains that people use the play-based daycare for a variety of reasons, not just as a weekly boredom-buster.  “Barking problems, destructive pets, potty training issues, there is always someone (at daycare) to redirect.”  Jacob describes how daycare can be a terrific option for out of the ordinary circumstances such as when families host large home parties or schedule services like carpet cleaning or house painting.  Ashley trains the daycare staff in dog behavior and body language.  They can teach your dog to communicate with other dogs in a way that promotes healthy play.  There is no better place to exercise and socialize your pet.  Small dog day care is offered at the West Olympia and Hawks Prairie locations, and the Fones Road location takes large and small dogs.  Dogs are heavily screened to make sure it’s a safe place for everyone.  Don’t let that stop you from enrolling, you may be surprised how well your dog gets along with the pack.

Even though dogs rule, k-9 Clubhouse offers grooming for cats as well.  There are three convenient k-9 Clubhouse locations ready to serve pet families around South Puget Sound.  Retail is available at the Eastside (Fones Road) location, and the Westside and Hawks Prairie Clubhouses have pet supply stores right next door.
