Perhaps you wish you could do more to contribute financially to your favorite local charity, or you volunteer for or run a non-profit and want to find an easy way to raise additional funds.  By simply grocery shopping you can.

For over 20 years, Thurston County non-profits have found an easy way to raise money through the Thriftway 1% Giving Program available at Ralph’s and Bayview Thriftway stores.

“If they are a non-profit organization and they are doing any fundraising, this is a hassle free way to bring in some extra funds,” said Charelle Foege of Stormans, Thriftway. “We had several hundred organizations signed up before we changed to the ThrifteCard program, now with the new program it took a while for the groups to shift over, so we want to let organizations know that we still have this program. “

Ralph’s and Bayview Thriftway, owned locally by the Stormans family, contribute valuable dollars back into the community.

Here is how it works: Thriftway gives a cash rebate of 1% of your total store purchase back to a non-profit of your choice every time you check-out.

Signing up is simple.  Forms are available at each store. Stop by the store or call the ThrifteCard Helpline at (360) 596-0110 and tell Thriftway which non-profit you would like to give your 1% donation to. Once your ThrifteCard is linked to your non-profit of choice, all you do is scan your card with each purchase you make.

Your purchases combined with other fellow donors can add up to hundreds of dollars being donated each quarter. This program costs nothing to participate in and gives you a chance to give back to the group of your choice in the community.

Non-profits need to sign up as well, and you can do this by contacting Thriftway at (360) 596-0110. You will need to fill out a form, and then notify all your fans in the community to choose your group as their non-profit of choice.

Every time your supporters shop at Ralph’s or Bayview Thriftway 1% of the receipt amount will go to your non-profit in the form of a quarterly check.

“Our philosophy is to reach out to as many people as possible and support community groups. We want to make sure those groups and individuals know about the program and sign up for it,” said Foege.
