Award-winning author Jane Kirkpatrick (“Where Lilacs Still Bloom” and “The Daughter’s Walk”) will be at the Olympia Timberland Library on Thursday, October 11 to share stories of remarkable women and men of the Northwest and to discuss what makes novels based on real people interesting. She will also encourage the audience to write based on their own family stories. The event will be held after regular library hours from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m.

Ms. Kirkpatrick is a New York Times and PNBA (Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association) bestselling author of 22 books. Nineteen are novels based on the lives of historical people. She received the Willamette Writers Distinguished Northwest Writer award for 2005 and was a finalist for a Ken Kesey Award. Kirkpatrick is also known as a lively and humorous speaker and keynote presenter.

A Wisconsin native, Kirkpatrick spent 30 years working in the field of mental health, 26 years living on a remote ranch, 17 years consulting with Native American tribes and, as she states, “not enough time with her husband of 36 years and her two dogs.” She lives near Bend, Oregon. Her website is www.jkbooks.com.

The library is located at 313 8th Avenue. For more information, please call (360) 352-0595 or go to www.TRL.org. The presentation is sponsored by the Friends of the Olympia Timberland Library.
