Letterpress artist Kyle Durrie and Moveable Type, her printshop on wheels, will make a stop at the Olympia Timberland Library on Saturday, September 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. to share stories and a slideshow about her recent ten-month tour of the U.S. and Canada.

Durrie’s traveling print shop is built into the back of an old delivery van. The van will be open for tours and printing demonstrations in the library parking lot for the second half of the program. A variety of letterpress items will be available for purchase.

To combine two of her loves, printing and road trips, Durrie converted a 1982 Chevy step van into a fully functional space for letterpress printing. The shop is outfitted with built-in cabinets and workspace, a sign press from the mid-20th century, and an 1873 Golding Official No. 3 tabletop platen press. Durrie has opened the shop up to people at schools, art spaces, city parks, music festivals, craft shows, and parties.

Durrie lives in Portland, Oregon, where she is the proprietor of Power and Light Press. Her website is http://type-truck.com. Her stop in Olympia is sponsored by the Friends of the Olympia Library. The library is located at 313 8th Avenue. For more information, please call the library at (360) 352-0595 or go to www.TRL.org.
