LACEY, WA, MAY 25, 2012: Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate the Independence Day holiday in Lacey, with a community tradition—the July 3 fireworks display—which will continue this year, thanks to a partnership between the City of Lacey and the Lacey Chamber of Commerce. The professional fireworks display will be launched from William A. Bush Park, 4400 Chardonnay Drive SE (at the intersection with Yelm Highway), in Lacey. The announcement was made at the regular meeting of the Lacey City Council on May 24, 2012.

In 2011, Capital Development Company announced that they would no longer host this popular event at South Sound Center in Lacey. For 45 years, the company sponsored an annual July 3 fireworks display and activities for the community. Over the years, this event has grown to become a popular tradition for the Lacey community.

“Fireworks are an important tradition that celebrates the independence of our nation, and honors the sacrifices made on behalf of our country,” stated Lacey Councilmember Jeff Gadman.

The Council offered special recognition to the Lacey Chamber of Commerce and their commitment to raise funds to pay for the fireworks display. Businesses and citizens who want to support the event can contact Tony Salas, executive director of the Lacey Chamber of Commerce at (360) 491-4141.
