I’m going to give you some great weight loss tips and help you get back on track! Hopefully after reading this newsletter, you will be inspired to eat clean, fresh and home prepared meals to help shed those extra pounds!
As women, we tend to be OBSESSED with weight and have skewed body images. The diet industry in the U.S. alone is around 35 billion, YES—BILLION dollars. I think we all know by now that DIETS DON’T WORK! Whether it’s a pill, taking out entire macro nutrients like fat or carbs or the newest diet on the market—injecting hormones into your body and forcing it to act like its pregnant. Yes, you read that correctly! Why do we as women go to crazy extremes only to become disappointed with the end results because it’s not realistic for lifelong weight management?
Bottom line: There is no quick fix or fast way of losing weight permanently! It needs to be a lifestyle change or you will join the millions of American’s yoyo dieting lifestyle, and I’m sure you are sick of it! Here are my tips on shedding those winter pounds:
Prevent unnecessary cravings: We have lost the ability to interpret the messages our cells send us. The solution: When you crave something fatty, such as cheese or French fries, make sure you eat a good fat. Examples are nuts and seeds, olives, and avocados. When you crave something sweet, reach for natural glucose in the form of fresh fruit.Prevent empty calories: It is better to eat smaller meals throughout the day instead of two or three meals per day. The solution: Increase your nutrient density by focusing on eating live, raw, whole foods like fresh fruit and vegetables. In Thurston County, we have many local Farmer’s Markets to get these. Also, eat smaller meals throughout the day to prevent energy dips. When eating a fruit, add a few nuts. Avoid refined sugar and carbohydrates, as they interfere with fatty acid metabolism and strip the body of B vitamins that are needed to support and increase the rate of metabolism.
