Boston Harbor to Fish Trap SUP (Paddleboarding) outing

This is another great SUP paddle (Paddleboard) destination in Thurston County.  Boston Harbor to Fish Trap is a seven mile round trip paddle with some beautiful scenery. It is recommended that the paddler launch with the outgoing tide and plan it so the return tide brings you back in.

During the Winter months the boat traffic is at a minimum which minimizes the wake action in Dana Passage, during the Summer, however, you will have to contend with wakes / waves on a regular basis.

Fish Trap is a cove with a couple fingers to explore.

On a clear day the Olympics are easily visible. Plenty of birdlife and sea life are prevalent.

To get there:

•Drive to the Boston Harbor (312-73rd Ave. N.E. Olympia, WA 98506) to put in.

•Parking is available.

•Launching can either be from the dock or boat launch.

•Once launched head east along the shore toward Fish Trap.

Allow at least 3 hours for the round trip. Also plan to check wind conditions before heading out to Boston Harbor, sometimes the winds can pick up quickly out in Dana Passage

Boston Harbor Marina offers a store with a café. During the Summer months they offer Sunday brunches.

Rental boards are available from West Bay Paddleboards.
