Legion Way Tree Planting Event on Veterans Day

Come to the first annual Legion Way Tree Planting and Veterans Day Celebration on Thursday, November 11, 2010, at 1:00 p.m.  Look for the booths and staging area in the First United Methodist Church parking lot at 1224 Legion Way SE. 

Much like the original celebration and planting in 1928, the community will be on hand to celebrate, to include Alfred William Leach American Legion Post #3, the National Guard, the 2nd Battalion 146th Field Artillery, and Ira L. Cater Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post #318.

Street Open to Local Access Only Day of the Event

  • Legion Way, between Eastside Street and Central Street, will be closed, with local access only, November 11, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
  • There will be no parking on Legion Way between Eastside Street and Central Street from 9:00 a.m. November 10, 2010 until 5:00 p.m. November 11, 2010.

  • Contributions to fund the replacement trees for Legion Way are currently being accepted by the Eastside Neighborhood Association.  For more information on donating, please visit www.eastside-olympia.org.
