The 2018 Olympia Yacht Club Parade of Lighted Ships gets underway promptly at 6:00 PM Saturday December 1st. Spectators are urged to arrive prior to 6:00 at Olympia’s Port Plaza Park for the following events and to ensure they see all the Lighted Ships:
5:15 PM, Santa & Mrs. Claus make a special appearance at Port Plaza Park
5:30 PM Carolers from the Capital High School Chamber Choir begin singing.
5:30 PM Olympia’s Batdorf & Bronson Coffee Roasters serve complimentary hot cocoa.
5:45 PM Parade Boats begin assembling in the Percial Landing area
6:00 PM Parade proceeds north from Percival Landing area past Port Plaza Park
From Port Plaza Park the Lighted Ships Parade sails north along the east side of Budd Inlet. About 7:00 PM it reaches Boston Harbor where it turns around and then heads south, hugging the western shore of Budd Inlet and returning to Percival Landing around 8:00 PM. Many boats are only decorated on their starboard (right) side so viewing is best from the east side of Budd Inlet on the North leg and the West side on the southbound leg.
While the Olympia Yacht Club sponsors the Parade of Lighted Ships, it’s open to any South Sound decorated boat and all South Sound boaters are welcome. Boaters wanting to join the Parade must register and pick up their parade packet at Olympia Yacht Club, 201 Simmons St (next to Bayview Thriftway) on Friday November 30th between 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
