Thurston County Commissioners and Sheriff John Snaza have reached substantial agreement on issues regarding the county’s new jail, which will allow the facility to open.
The Accountability and Restitution Center (ARC) was completed in 2010, but financial challenges from the recession and other issues have kept it in mothballs since. Recent talks between the Sheriff and Commissioners have resulted in a “Letter of Intent” outlining certain corrections-related funding and mutual solutions to other challenges, which will allow the ARC to open.
The signing of the ARC Letter of Intent will take place at a news conference at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 30 at the ARC facility in Tumwater.
