It’s time for the 13th year of Lacey Loves to Read! This award-winning, community literacy initiative is a unique partnership between NTPS, Lacey Timberland Regional Library, City of Lacey and Lacey South Sound Chamber, plus countless other business and local sponsors. The annual Lacey Loves to Read Bookmark Contest is a highlight of the program, featuring artwork from all NTPS schools as well as several community winners. Special thanks to our school teacher-librarians and visual art teachers who helped facilitate the contest and encourage student entries.

Organized by some of our high schools and the Lacey Timberland Library, Lacey Loves to Read 2016 includes Open Mic Night. This free event invites high school students to read their own poetry or writing at a community event to be held at 6 p.m., Feb. 10, at Forza Coffee, 130 Marvin Rd. SE.

South Bay Elementary will also host a poetry slam on Feb. 11, 6 p.m. for younger students – all schools and public are welcome.

The big community author reception which is free will be at 6 p.m., Feb. 18 at the Lacey Community Center and will include an opening performance by River Ridge High School Jazz band, snacks and book signings – plus much more!
