Foot injury and pain can seriously limit your activities. According to the Pedorthic Footcare Association,† 30 percent of Americans suffer with some sort of foot problem and up to 90 percent are wearing improperly fitted or poorly constructed shoes that can cause serious health problems.
Joyce Hess, a board certified pedorthist*, will impart the health benefits of caring for your feet at a presentation at the Lacey Timberland Library on Monday, January 14 from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Hess will also talk about the different foot pathologies—injuries, diseases and conditions, including common ones such as painful inflammation in the connective tissues on the sole of the foot, damage from diabetes, and fallen arches. The arch of the foot is the foundation of the body, all the way to the neck and jaw, said Hess. Just like the foundation of a house, problems in the foundation create problems in the whole structure.
The Lacey Timberland Library is located at 500 College Street SE. For more information, contact the library at (360) 491-3860 or visit www.TRL.org.
