On September 29, Harlequin Productions opens The Two Gentlemen of Verona, the timeless romantic comedy by William Shakespeare. The show runs until October 22 at the State Theater in downtown Olympia.
Valentine and Proteus are the best of friends until they fall in love with the same woman – Silvia. Forsaking his first love, Julia, Proteus sets out to betray his unsuspecting friend, Valentine, only to find that both Silvia and Julia have a few lessons to teach him about loyalty and love. Throw in a circus of outlaws, dim-witted parents, a cross-dressing heroine, and a pair of antic clowns (one with a love of dogs, the other of rollerskates) and you wind up with a romantic comedy that promises to entertain audiences of any ilk.
