Growing UP Wild is Project Wild’s award winning early education program for children ages 3-7 that builds on children’s sense of wonder about nature, and invites them to explore wildlife and the world around them. The Growing Up Wild curriculum includes 27 activities aligned to the NAEYC Accreditation Criteria and Head Starts’ Child Outcomes Framework.
Goal: The hands-on, sensory activities spark curiosity, and make connections to math, language and literacy, nature play, scientific inquiry, home and provide an early foundation for developing positive impressions about nature and lifelong social and academic skills.
Presenters: Davy Clark, education coordinator at the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge, yearly conducts field studies for thousands of preschool through college students at the complex. He has a BA degree from The Evergreen State College with an emphasis in environmental education.
Kathy Jacobson has a BA degree in Parks and Resources, with an emphasis in environmental education. Kathy has conducted nature-based classes, workshops, and excursions for preschoolers to high school students for more than 25 years.
- Bring a reusable beverage container, and a sack lunch.
- Light snacks will be provided.
- Dress for the weather as we will be outdoors throughout the day.
Who is encouraged to attend? Childhood Educators/Providers, K-2 Teachers, Scout Leaders, Nature Center Staff, Volunteers, and Parents.
