The Olympia Film Society is giving Olympia what it’s been craving –brains.  (And other great classic film gore!)  With the popularity of the Olympia Film Fest’s All Freakin’ Night in mind, OFS is kicking off the summer with a brand new film series celebrating all things scary.  The series begins with The Shining and Dawn of the Dead.

The Shining:  Fridays at 9 p.m. – 6/19, 7/3 and 7/17

Stanley Kubrick’s atmospheric adaptation of Stephen King’s The Shining is an unforgettable horror class.  Join the disturbed Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) as he moves his family to the snowbound Overlook Hotel for an ill-fated stint as its winter caretaker.  Filled with hypnotic camera effects and a super creepy soundtrack, The Shining is a frightening ghost story, as well as a masterful exercise in terror.

Dawn of the Dead: Fridays at 9 p.m. – 6/26 and 7/10

1978’s classic Dawn of the Dead is arguably the definitive zombie movie.  George Romero’s sequel to his hallmark Night of the Living Dead begins where that film ends and creates a claustrophobic symphony of terror that overflows with flesh eating ghouls, frenetic chaos, and a myriad of consumer goods.  Super scary and epic in scale, the original Dawn of the Dead is a zombie movie for the ages.  Accept no substitutes.

Ticket prices: OFS Members: $6; Non-Members: $9.  Tickets are available at the box office, which opens ½ hour before showtime.  All Friday Night Fright Club screenings begin at 9:00pm.  Mezzanine Lounge will be open to 21+ w/ID.
