You are cordially invited to come aboard the historic 105 year old tugboat Sand Man, and tour her decks and learn a bit about the maritime history of Olympia and South Puget Sound. The Sand Man is moored in Olympia, Washington at Percival Landing. She was built in 1910 in Tacoma, WA at the Crawford & Reid shipyard. She is one of only 16 historic vessels in Washington state listed on the National Historic Register, and she is also listed on the Olympia and State historic registers. The tugboat is open to the public, free of charge, on most weekends, year-round. She is maintained by The Sand Man Foundation, a nonprofit organization that has owned the boat since 1997. The mission of the Foundation has been to restore the 60 ft. vessel and to operate the boat as a floating museum, dedicated to preserving some of the maritime history of Olympia and South Puget Sound.
