A Community United in Recovery is taking the stigma out of recovery by honoring it and getting the wider community involve. We were formed in Thurston County by concerned community members, healthcare providers, prevention specialists, and people in recovery. It all started with a screening of the film “Anonymous People” in 2014. For 2015, we are planning a 5k run/walk at Olympia’s Capitol Lake (Marathon Park) on September 5. We are the local community’s answer to the nationwide celebration of recovery month in September.
We are founded upon SAMSHA’s 10 guiding principles of recovery.
