Is genetically modified food a potential boon for millions, or “Frankenfood” that threatens our health and the environment? Should we be amazed or worried by designer vegetables? Should governments force corporations to label GM foods? Is it wise for corporations like Chipotle to swear off GM ingredients?

As a fundraiser for our upcoming participation in the national tournament, the CHS Debate team is hosting its first-ever Exhibition Debate on the topic of GM foods, Tuesday, May 26th, at 7 p.m. in the CHS Theater. Admission is $5 for adults, and $3 for students. All proceeds go directly to fund our trip to Dallas this June.

Tate Adams and Max Powers will square off against Caralina Casperson and Alex Yantis as they argue the resolution, “The benefits of genetically modified food outweigh the harms.” The debate will not only allow debaters to showcase their talents, but will include audience participation via interactive technology. If you’re a person who eats, you should attend.

If you can’t go, but would still like to financially support CHS Debate, you are encouraged to contact Stacy Sharp, CHS’s comptroller, at 360-596-8071. No donation is too small!
