We’re excited to announce a local history talk at noon on Thursday, December 18th at the historic Schmidt House.  The special guest speaker is Master stone carver Keith Phillips from Tenino.  He’ll be bringing an illustrated talk titled “Carved in Stone:  the Art and History of Tenino Sandstone”.   This hour long presentation at the noon hour in our popular monthly brown bag history talk series is free admission, but donations are encouraged.  Doors open at 11:30 a.m. at 330 Schmidt Place in Tumwater and seating is limited, so come early.  Keith will stay afterwards to answer questions and display some of his tools and samples.  There are some real historical connections in Tumwater and Olympia with the Tenino sandstone quarries and carvers, so this should be fun and informative for all.
