Hospital + Medical Center

Expert medical care can be the difference between life and death, which is why it’s comforting to know that one of the best hospitals in the state — and country — is located right in our very own backyard.

Recently, Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report as:

These recent accolades, which were given based on a challenging set of criteria established by U.S. News and World Report, are just two of many that Providence Medical Group and Providence St. Peter Hospital have collected over the years.

In addition, in 2015, Providence St. Peter Hospital received Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center for the second time in a row.

The Magnet Recognition Program is designed to recognize health care organizations that go above and beyond in providing quality, innovative care from the hands of well-qualified nurses. The designation is regarded as the gold standard for nursing excellence.

Providence St. Peter Hospital is one of only three medical facilities in the state and one of 375 out of nearly 6,000 health care organizations nationwide to receive Magnet recognition. It is an outstanding local choice for quality care, right here in Olympia.

In addition to being recognized with one of the best nursing teams in the country, the American Nurses Credentialing Center also identified three particular areas where Providence St. Peter Hospital excelled. This included St. Pete’s Sexual Assault Clinic, No One Dies Alone (NODA), and the hospital’s community-wide geriatric care.

Paul Wilkinson, chief operating officer for Providence St. Peter Hospital, says recognition like this means a lot to the hospital. “It confirms the great care we provide,” says Wilkinson. “It shows what we know – that people don’t have to leave Southwest Washington for great care.”

Along with these accolades, Providence is at the cutting edge of patient centered technology.  Take their Health eXpress telehealth program for example.

Dr. Todd Czartoski, Medical Director of Telehealth at Providence describes how beneficial Health eXpress has been for patients. “Now patients have the ability to see a provider from anyplace and anywhere without having to make an appointment with their doctor or drive to the emergency room or urgent care center. Health eXpress offers convenient access to providers in a timely fashion. Literally within minutes you can be in front of a provider,” Czartoski explains.
