Westport Winery was nominated in multiple categories including Rising Star, Business of the Year, Retail Excellence, and Community Impact. Winery co-founder, Kim Roberts, accepted the award on behalf of her team and family in attendance. “We are so appreciative to have been finalists in all these categories. Receiving the Rising Star award as a vote of our peers is encouraging since we are new to the community. We love the support members provide to each other and how they have welcomed us. The chamber is an active and vibrant organization and it shows with all their success.”

Westport Winery Seaside opened in February of 2018 when the Roberts’ family purchased a former furniture store at 810 Broadway. At the time much of the block had empty storefronts. In the past year their building has added five new tenants and created a revitalization of this portion of the town.

As part of this new location, Westport Winery closed their Cannon Beach tasting room in December allowing them to focus on the new store. In addition to wine tasting, the Seaside location features oil and vinegar tasting along with samples a host of gourmet foods. The welcoming space features a comfortable lounge and several tables for relaxed enjoyment of a glass of wine in addition to an expansive tasting bar. The winery’s signature gifts from mermaids and pirates to ocean décor and apparel are included. Last June, the family added a section dedicated to their new business Seaside Kites, as a means to better create more family-friendly activities in this family-focused town.

Over the past year the Roberts family have also built a vacation home in Seaside. In the next few weeks they will announce its availability for rent when the family is not able to enjoy the residence on the fairway of Seaside Golf Course. Roberts said, “Since we all live on property at our Washington location, we don’t have much time away from the business. At the same time, we work when other people play, so our Seaside home is empty all summer and most weekends.” They are in the last stage of the licensing for the cottage. The family will share the booking process once that is complete.

Westport Winery Garden Resort and the Roberts family were honored with Seattle Business Magazine’s Community Involvement Business of the Year for 2018. In 2017 the Westport Winery was named Greater Grays Harbor Business of the Year. USA Today named the Sea Glass Grill at Westport Winery Garden Resort one of the top five winery restaurants in the nation. The business has been voted Best Winery by King 5 Evening Magazine.

In 2016 Westport Winery was honored as one of the top twenty most-admired wineries in North America by Winery & Vineyard Management Magazine. The business earned Best Winery, Best Wine Shop, and Best Boutique Winery for 2016 by South Sound Magazine. They received the Grays Harbor Environmental Stewardship Award in 2015. They are finalist to the Best Washington Family Business competition by Seattle Business Magazine. And in 2011 they garnered Washington Winery to Watch by Wine Press Northwest.
