In an effort to accommodate more visitors to the Washington State Governor’s Mansion and to showcase new interior and exterior improvements, the Governor’s Mansion Foundation (GMF) has expanded the afternoon tours on Wednesday, October 10 and Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

The tour times are 1, 1:30 and 2 p.m. Each tour is 60 minutes in length and will accommodate 25 guests.

GMF Interior Design Committee Chair Patsy Ellis will offer insights about the approach to recent interior design initiatives and Department of Enterprise Services Cultural Resources Manager Marygrace Goddu will talk about just-completed restoration work on the Mansion’s exterior.

“These October tours are a nice addition to our fall season at the Mansion,” said Dawna Donohue, GMF’s chair of tours and vice president.

The regularly scheduled tours in October are still set for the Wednesdays October 3 and 24th. However, no tours are scheduled on the 31st which is Halloween.  The regular tours run every 20 minutes and last 40 minutes. They begin at 1, 1:20, 1:40, and 2 p.m.

For reservations for all tours:

Adult tour guests must present photo identification and all visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. No cameras, umbrellas, strollers, or food/drink will be allowed inside the Mansion on the tour. There is a place outside the Mansion for secure storage for these items.  The Mansion is accessible to wheelchairs and walkers. However, visitors must walk a 200-yard incline to the entrance and also be able to stand for the duration of the tour.

The Governor’s Mansion Foundation, an all-volunteer, non-profit, non-partisan organization, hosts weekly tours of the Mansion on most Wednesdays (except holidays and the month of August).  To learn more about becoming a “Friend of the Mansion” or for more information on the GMF visit www.wagovmansion.org.
