The steam system that supports a dozen state office buildings on the Capitol Campus, including the Legislative Building, will be taken off-line from 6 p.m. Friday, July 13, to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, for repairs.

Crews plan to repair a leak in the steam tunnel adjacent to the Temple of Justice building and perform other maintenance work. The entire system, which is powered by natural gas boilers at the central powerhouse, must be shut down for the work.

During the outage, the buildings will be without heat and hot water.

Office buildings served by the steam heating loop are:

West Campus

  • Legislative Building (Capitol)
  • Temple of Justice
  • John A. Cherberg
  • John L. O’Brien
  • Insurance Building
  • Joel M. Pritchard Building
  • General Administration
  • Irving Newhouse Building

East Campus

  • Archives
  • Highways-Licenses Building
  • Employment Security Building
  • Office Building 2

The steam system will be turned back on immediately after the repair. Heat and hot water are expected to be available by 8 p.m. Saturday.
