The Oly Town Artesians open the second half of their Evergreen Premier League season with a pair of games this weekend, first at home against the Tri-Cities Alliance on Saturday night, followed by a trip to Vancouver to take on the Victory in a critical Coastal Division contest on Sunday. Saturday night’s game at Black Hills High School is another Wembley Soccer Shop Youth Soccer Night. Kids in their youth uniforms get in for $2 off a regular priced ticket. And the first 50 fans through the gates will get an Oly Town FC crest magnet.
The Artesians wrapped up the first half with their first loss of the season, a rough 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Seattle Stars. Before that game, Oly Town had allowed just four goals, with only one of those coming in the run of play and three penalty kick goals. They now sit in third place in the highly competitive Coastal Division, one point behind the Victory and four points behind Seattle.
Daniel Gonzalez and Christian Segovia lead the way for the Artesians with three goals each and Gonzalez has a pair of assists to lead the team in points in just three games played. Defender Crisantos Chavez leads field players in minutes, playing 400 of 450 possible minutes, and was named EPLWA Defensive Player of the Week two weeks ago for his performance against Spokane. Daniele Zaccagnini just trails him with 398 minutes played.
Saturday night, the Artesians host the expansion Tri-Cities Alliance. The Lions, in their first season in the EPLWA, have played well and sit atop the Columbia Division at 3-3-0 with nine points. Lenin Guzman is second in the EPLWA with four goals scored and was named Offensive Player of the Week last week with two goals in two games. Tonio Gonzalez has one clean sheet between the pipes. These two teams played to a 1-1 draw in group play of the preseason Evergreen Cup in April.
Vancouver sits at 3-2-0 with nine points in the Coastal Division. They have been very good on their home field notching all three wins at Harmony Sports, but they have not fared as well on the road. Like the Artesians, they dropped a 4-0 decision to the Seattle Stars at Starfire and lost 4-0 to Washington Premier in Puyallup. University of Portland alum Brandon Zambrano leads the Victory with three goals after his hat trick against Spokane.
Tickets for Saturday’s game against Tri-Cities are just $8 for adults and $5 for kids 5-12, seniors and military members. Kids under 5 are free and kids in their youth soccer uniforms get in for $2 off and will get to accompany the teams onto the field for introductions and will have the opportunity to play on the field at halftime. First kick is set for 6:00 p.m. and pre-game festivities start at 5:50 p.m..
