After checking in at the reception desk for your doctor’s appointment, you are greeted by a medical assistant who will take you into the patient room, go over your medical information and take your vital signs before the doctor arrives.  That’s where Sang Pham, CMA, has you covered.  Sang, a valued medical assistant at MGH Shelton Family Medicine, was recently named as MGH&FC’s May Employee of the Month by his peers.

“I really enjoy my work here and being part of this medical team,” Sang said.  “Everyone is so warm and friendly, it makes you feel like family.”  Sang joined Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics right after graduating with an Associate’s degree in Applied Science, and completing a Medical Assistant program from South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia in 2015.  He did his 200 hours of ‘externship’ at MGH Shelton Family Medicine, and remained on staff as a floating medical assistant, doing preliminary medical checks and immunizations.

“Sang always has a positive and encouraging attitude when speaking to people,” said his nominator. “He is very kind and compassionate with patients and goes out of his way to offer help to his co-workers.”

Sang was born in Vietnam, and moved to the United States with his parents at the age of two.  He grew up in the Lacey area his with two younger brothers, and graduated from North Thurston High School in 2008.  Right after high school Sang worked for a year at varied employment before deciding to pursue a college medical program.  Sang now lives with his fiancé in Lacey, and they look forward to their wedding this summer.

When not busy at work Sang enjoys spending time with his family and his fiancé. He also works out at the gym quite often, where he stays in shape doing a lot of resistance training.

MGH&FC is approved by the Joint Commission and is a licensed and accredited acute care hospital with a level four emergency trauma designation.  MGH&FC now offers Virtual Care ‒ 24/7. For more information on Virtual Care or to find a health care provider, go to www.MasonGeneral.com.
