Submitted by Thurston County Board of County Commissioners

The Thurston County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to accept public comment on the Spooner (Toft) Land Use Plan Amendment and Redesignation on Wednesday, May 2. The applicant is requesting a site-specific Comprehensive Plan land use amendment and associated zoning redesignation for the five-acre site, located at 8025 Yelm Highway SE, on the corner of Yelm Highway and Spurgeon Creek Road.

What:    Public Hearing on Land Use Plan Amendment and Redesignation

When:   Wednesday, May 2, 2018

Time:    7:00 p.m. or soon thereafter

Where:  Thurston County Courthouse Complex, Room 152 at 2000 Lakeridge Dr. SW, Olympia, WA, 98502

The request would change the land use and zoning from McAllister Geologically Sensitive Area (MGSA) to Neighborhood Convenience District (NC). Approximately 1.25 acres of the five-acre property is already designated as NC.

The Planning Commission is considering redesignating the five-acre site as Rural Commercial Center (RCC), and whether or not to expand the RCC designation to the two adjacent properties on the east side of Spurgeon Creek Road. Both properties are currently designated as NC and are approximately 1.07 acres total.

Written comments must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on May 2, 2018, and can be emailed to Krosbie Carter, Associate Planner, at carterk@co.thurston.wa.us, hand delivered, or mailed to:
