Lots of Fun, Games, and Prizes is once again this year’s theme for the 8th Annual Love Inc Golf Tournament presented by Title Sponsor Alderbrook Properties  and Tournament Sponsors Drew MacEwen, Falcon Financial Investment, Inc. and the Druzianich Family Foundation. The tournament is set for Monday, July 16, 2018 at the award-winning Alderbrook Golf and Yacht Club in Union.  Last year’s tournament helped to transform the lives of more than 4,380 people in Mason County. Gillis Auto Center, Shelton, and Arnold Smith Insurance are par 3 hole-in-one sponsors with Gillis giving away a new car and Arnold Smith awarding  $5,000 cash.

“We always focus on the golfers and making this the best tournament around. Combined with our generous sponsors, we’re able to help transform the lives of those less fortunate in our area,” said Mike McCarty, co-chair of the golf tournament. “It’s really a fun, worthwhile tournament.”  Golfers of all levels are encouraged to play as it is a Scramble event. There are three divisions – Ladies, Men’s and Mixed Divisions, handicaps or golf average are required. The golf ball drop – presented by Our Community Credit Union – will take place at 5:15 p.m. The public is invited to watch the “drop”.  There will be six cash prizes awarded including $2,000 to the first ball in the “hole-in-one” .

The shot-gun-start time for this year’s scramble event will be at 10 a.m., with registration/continental breakfast starting at 8:30 a.m.  The cost is $125 which includes all games, plus green fees, tee prizes, continental breakfast and a BBQ/Awards dinner. Extra BBQ tickets sell fast, so order in advance for non-golfers.  Golf balls are a donation of $10 each and can purchased at the Love INC office located at 221 W. Railroad, Suite 10 or by calling the Love INC office at (360) 462-5683.

In 2017, more than $160,356 were recorded as “In-kind giving” through Gap Ministries operated by the 26 partner churches.  Some of the Gap services offered include emergency firewood, household goods, furniture, medical equipment, clothing, CarePacks, vehicle repair, school backpacks, personal necessities, homeless provisions, Thanksgiving Day baskets and more. More than 6,865 volunteer hours were spent in 2017, while the Clearinghouse had a total of 5,986 calls in 2017 and gave more than 3,683 referrals to churches, resources and agencies in Mason County. Once a need is verified everyone is helped – no matter their race, religion, age or sexual orientation.

All proceeds from this event go to Love INC of Mason County, a 501(c) (3) non-profit.   Love INC is a non-profit, faith-based organization that mobilizes 26 local churches in Mason County to provide services to the homeless, those at risk, low income and socially vulnerable individuals and families. Love INC operates a Clearinghouse to verify the needs of clients and assist those with legitimate needs.
