Olympia Family Theater has 11 weeks of amazing theater camps for kids ages 5 to 17. We are your community partner in raising imaginative, loving, joyful and confident children. Our educational programs provide opportunities for personal development for young people, teaching creativity and responsibility, encouraging teamwork and personal integrity, and fostering self-esteem and appreciation for the performing arts.  Our motto is Learn! Laugh! Perform!

Each summer camp is designed around a show, theme, or skill. Most camp & workshop weeks end with a performance for friends & family. Our camps offer a variety of theater skill-building opportunities including comedy, poetry, singing and choreography, prop making, improvisation and of course acting!

Our 2018 summer features the following programs:

Half-Day Camps: ages 5 & 6

Our littlest campers will spend their mornings playing theater & movement games, making art, making friends, and building a performance to showcase for family & friends at the end of their week. Student-teacher ratio, 8:1. Camp times: 9:30am-12pm.

Full-Day Performance Camps: ages 7-13

Each week a new show and everyone gets a part! Students spend their week playing theater games, developing as an ensemble of actors, and rehearsing their show. Families & friends are invited to come enjoy Friday’s performance. Student-teacher ratio, 10:1. Camp times: 9am-3pm.

If you love to act, but want to learn more about how to put together a whole show in these workshops  students will learn about interpreting a script, staging a story and what it take it bring it all to life. Student-teacher ratio, 9:1. Camp times: 9am-3pm.

Stage Craft: ages 11-15

Students will get hands-on learning about the world of technical theater, scenic design, prop and costume design, lights, and sound. Each student will be a part of the production team for our Friday show. Student-teacher ratio, 9:1. Camp times: 9am-3pm.

OF Glee: ages 10 & up

Our glee program is for your talented singer/dancer. Learn how to sing your parts in well-loved pop tunes all while dancing some show-stopping “choralography”. Each week culminates in a recital for friends & family. Student-teacher ratio, 16:1. Camp times: 3:30-6pm.

Teen Improv: ages 13 & up

Feeling witty? Try something new or gain more experience doing something you love—Improv! We will practice a variety of games and formats. Each day we learn how to say “yes, and…!”. Each week culminates in an Improv performance for friends & family. Attending any week fulfills the prerequisite for our school-year Improv troupe. Student-teacher ratio 15:1. Camp times: 4-6pm.

Our summer staff bring an abundance of theater knowledge and experience to each camp. Our featured teaching staff:  Mandy Ryle, Claribel Gross, Christine Goode, Amy Shephard, Vanessa Postil, Rebecca Rogers, Dale Sharp, and Jen Ryle.

LOCATION: All of our camps take place at our theater house, 612 4th Ave E, downtown Olympia.
