Saint Martin’s University welcomes Teri Moser Woo, Ph.D., as the incoming director of the RN-to-BSN nursing program. As director, Woo’s official duties will be to oversee the program and faculty and to secure reaccreditation of the program next year. Woo will lead the growth of the nursing program at Saint Martin’s by applying for the creation of a Bachelor of Science of Nursing (BSN) at the University and the creation of a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) once the BSN program has been established. She will also be responsible for building collaborative partnerships and securing clinic sites, designing nursing labs for the BSN program, and helping to fundraise for the nursing programs. Woo will start at Saint Martin’s on July 1, 2018.

I am very excited about her joining us and look forward to the growth of this program in the near future,” said Jeff Crane, Ph.D., dean of the College of the Arts and Sciences.

Woo brings more than 30 years of nursing experience and educational leadership to Saint Martin’s University. She graduated from Oregon Health Sciences University with a BSN in 1984, an MSN in childrearing family nursing in 1989 and a post-masters pediatric nurse practitioner certificate in 1993. She earned her Ph.D. in nursing at University of Colorado Denver College of Nursing in 2008. Woo was named a fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners in 2009.
Woo comes to Saint Martin’s from Pacific Lutheran University (PLU), in Parkland, where she is currently a professor and associate dean for graduate nursing programs. While at PLU, Woo worked with the faculty to develop the PLU Doctor of Nursing Practice program, with the first students graduating from the program in 2017. At PLU, Woo was awarded $1.75 million in Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) nursing education grants, used to provide funds for student tuition and strengthen nurse practitioner education to care for rural and underserved populations.
Prior to PLU, Woo was at the University of Portland for 12 years, where she taught both undergraduate and graduate nursing students, and worked with faculty to develop the Clinical Nurse Leader master’s degree and the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program.
Woo is lead author of “Pharmacotherapeutics for Advanced Practice Nurses,” used by more than 250 nurse practitioner programs in the U.S. and internationally, and has lectured and written extensively on the topic of nurse practitioner prescribing. She currently serves on the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) as an at-large board member and has represented NAPNAP on Centers for Disease Control/Pew Charitable Trust committees for addressing inappropriate antibiotic prescribing, and the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute for Child Health and Human Development, Best Pharmaceuticals for Children Act Working Group.
Woo lends her practice expertise to the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia by serving as an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) examiner and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) Quality Assurance practice reviewer since 2007. She maintains her clinical nursing practices as a pediatric nurse practitioner at Woodcreek-Mary Bridge Healthcare in pediatric urgent care.
