This is a 5k for all fitness levels, come dressed in your costume and run though the festive “zones.” There will be a Graveyard, Zombies and other surprises. All who take part are invited to dress up. Last year featured superheroes, the cast of “Wayne’s World,” pirates, statues, witches, togas and a penguin. Kids 10 and under are free with paying adults.

After the run, everyone gets to celebrate. There’s a concert and party on the plaza in front of the Hands on Children’s Museum brought to you by 96.9 KAYO. Prizes are given away for costumes and more. Vendors will be on hand with giveaways and snacks.

What’s even better is that all the proceeds from this event go to help youth right here in our community. CYS serves more than 7,000 youth and families in South Sound annually, including those who are homeless, in foster care or at-risk in other ways.

The race starts in front of the children’s museum, 414 Jefferson Street NE, in downtown Olympia. To sign up visit the Brighter Futures Run website and to learn more about CYS by visit the Community Youth Services website.
