This summer, Timberland Regional Library (TRL) presents three months of programs and activities for the whole family centered around the theme “Build a Better World.”
Don’t forget to sign up for Summer at the Library. Beginning June 1 through the end of August, kids, teens and adults can sign up online.
Youth Services Manager Kendra Jones said, “We are thrilled to offer Timberland’s first ever online Summer Reading Program. This way kids can participate in the library, from home or wherever they may be this summer. Children of all ages can log the minutes they read, or spend time on other literacy activities in order to complete a challenge and earn a free book and coupons.”
Featured performers include comedy acts, live music, and magic shows. Two programs scheduled for most libraries include WonderWorks, activities that build math, science and creative thinking skills, and Hour of Code, a one-hour introduction to computer science, where anyone can learn the basics of coding.
Jones added, “We know from years of research that summer reading programs improve reading skills, and those children become more confident learners and more likely to remember what they learned the previous school year.”
