Thanks to you! The Hands On Children’s Museum hosted its 2017 Imagine That! Luncheon on March 9 to a packed auditorium of more than 600 community and elected leaders.
Thanks to Presenting Sponsor Thurston First Bank, a division of Commencement Bank, and a record number of event sponsors and donors, the Museum raised nearly $200,000 to fund its robust Free and Reduced Admissions Program which serves over 100,000 visitors each year—one-third of the Museum’s annual visitation. A special thank you to Brad Smith, Microsoft President and Chief Legal Officer, for serving as the featured speaker and Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdahl for his passionate remarks about the benefits of Museum access for low and moderate income families.
Hands On greatly appreciates the support of the high-profile event leadership team of Rick & Pam Panowicz, Scott & Renae Bond, and Bret & Monica Wilhelm. Former Senator Karen Fraser was awarded the Great Friend to Kids Award for her efforts to champion public funding to match private contributions to build the new Museum facility and to build various exhibits.
The Museum expects to serve 5,000 more children and families through its access programs in 2017 as a result of the new Inspired Learning for All Initiative funded in part by WSECU.
