Studio West Dance Theatre hosts the 9th Annual Dance to Make a Difference (DTMAD) Charity Gala on March 11, 2017. This event brings together dance companies from across the Puget Sound to raise funds for local charities. The gala reception begins at 6:00 pm with a light dinner, dessert, wine, and live music. The performance on the main stage follows at 8:00 pm. All net proceeds from this year’s gala, including a silent auction during intermission, will be donated to the Family Support Center of South Sound (FSCSS).
This year’s gala will include the premier of a new work by Laura and Jerome Tisserand, principal dancers with Pacific Northwest Ballet.
Participating companies in past galas include:
- 3rd Shift Dance, Evergreen City Ballet, Ktisk Contemporary Dance (Seattle and vicinity)
- Washington Contemporary Ballet (Tacoma)
- Audacity Cru, Ballet Northwest, EDGE, Studio West Dance Theatre (Olympia)
- Southwest Washington Dance Ensemble (Centralia)
The Dance to Make a Difference program seeks to instill a tradition of volunteering and community involvement in young dancers and supporters. Studio West partners with the chosen charity throughout the year to volunteer and inform the performing arts community on the charity’s work in our community. This year, studio families organized a clothing drive, toy drive, and fundraiser at the studio for FSCSS, and dancers volunteer monthly to organize the donation room at the FSCSS downtown Olympia office.
