Double Gold For Westport at Tri-Cities Wine Fest

Westport Winery again earned a double gold medal for its iconic sparkling cranberry wine, Rapture of the Deep, this time at the Tri-Cities Wine Festival held on Saturday, November 12. Director of Winemaking Dana Roberts was on hand at the event to accept this award along with numerous others. 

Gold medals were awarded to Mermaid Merlot, Dawn Patrol (raspberry Riesling), Shiver Me Timbers (passionfruit, orange, guava Riesling) and Captain Grays Gewurztraminer. 

Maritime (sparkling Riesling), Bordello Blonde (a Gewurztraminer and Riesling blend), Shorebird Chardonnay, Charterboat Chick’s Cabernet Sauvignon, Surfer Syrah, and Swimmer Petite Sirah earned silver medals.

2016-rapture-frontMessage in a Bottle (rose of Sangiovese), Lighthouse (dry Riesling) and Smoky Nor’wester (the winery’s most popular red blend) each earned bronze medals. To date, Westport’s wines have earned over 300 awards in national and international competitions.

Roberts said, “We owe a debt of gratitude to our incredible grape-growing partners at Red Willow, Discovery, Conner-Lee and Olsen Vineyards. Collaborating with these industry leaders makes my job exciting and our wine incredible.” 

Family-friendly Westport Winery Garden Resort, is located on the corner of Highway 105 and South Arbor Road halfway between Aberdeen and Westport. The resort (including the restaurant, bakery, nursery and gardens) is open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Westport Winery TASTING @ Cannon Beach, is located at 255 N. Hemlock. The Oregon tasting room is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Westport Winery was named Top Twenty Most Admired Wineries in North America in 2016 according to Winery & Vineyard Management Magazine. In 2011 it was selected as Washington Winery to Watch by Wine Press Northwest. They have been voted Best Winery by King 5 Evening Magazine six times. They earned the Best Washington Family Business Silver Medal in 2012, the Grays Harbor Environmental Stewardship Award in 2015, and Best Winery, Best Wine Shop, and Best Boutique Winery for 2016 by South Sound Magazine.
