Olympia Federal Savings completed their new branch in Yelm in 2015.  The environmentally friendly office has now been honored with an award for its design.  The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certification is an internationally recognized mark of excellence in green building.

LEED provides building owners with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable sustainable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.  LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health including water savings, energy efficiency, material selection and indoor environmental quality.

This is the third Gold LEED Certification for Oly Fed, beginning with the construction of the new branch in Belfair and continuing with the remodeled West Olympia Branch.

The Olympia Federal Yelm Branch is located at 907 Yelm Ave. W. and opened for business in August of 2015.  The project included many innovative aspects that helped to win the Gold Award including recycled and reused building materials, purchase of 100% Green Power and an innovative geothermal heating and cooling system.

“We are extremely proud of the LEED Gold Certification for our efforts,” said Lori Drummond, Olympia Federal President and CEO. “We believe it shows our desire to be a good neighbor and steward in the communities that we all live and work in.  When we began work on this branch, our goal was to not only provide a customer friendly office, but to also do it in the most environmentally conscious way possible.

The Yelm Branch is one of eight for Olympia Federal.  Founded in 1906, Olympia Federal Savings is a state chartered mutual savings bank with over $590 million in assets.
