On October 10, 2016 from 6-8:30 p.m., TOGETHER! will host the 15th and final Champions for Kids event at Indian Summer Golf and Country Club.

Champions for Kids is an awards dinner and celebration to honor those who give their time and talents to encourage, engage and support our youth. Past champions honorees include educators, law enforcement, service workers, volunteers and other professionals committed to the health, safety and success of kids. “Honoring those who have committed extraordinary time and energy to the health, safety and success of kids is what Champions is all about,” said TOGETHER! Executive Director, Meghan Sullivan.

Over the 14-year history of the event, more than 400 people have been recognized as Champions for their dedication and volunteerism. “These heroes often go unsung, and their recognition is well-deserved. In this final year of Champions, we’ll have a special recognition of a ‘Legacy Champion’ couple, Virgil and Barbara Clarkson, who have given decades of service and support to kids.  Fifteen other legacy-themed Champions honorees will also be recognized,” Meagan Darrow, TOGETHER!’s Deputy Director said.

Community and business sponsors are being recruited to help make this meaningful recognition event possible. Olympia Federal Savings has already committed to be an event sponsor and has been for the duration of this event.

Nominations for the 2016 Champions for Kids is open now and due to TOGETHER! by September 16.  Dinner registrations will be accepted until filled or October 3.  Check this website for event registration and nomination forms: www.thurstontogether.org or contact Roger Jones, Development and Events Manager at 360 493-2230 ext. 20 or rjones@thurstontogether.org.
